Vivian Vanessa & Taller Aluna

Vivian Vanesa Garcia is the visionary behind Taller Aluna and the head of our feather fan arts collective. After living 5 years in the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta and working with the Kogi, Arsarian and Kankuamo communities, drastic and very synchronistic changes transformed her life. In feather art she found the path of the northern tradition through the chichimeca warrior dance and the Native American Church ceremonies, which opened her memory of her yagé initiations at 16 years of age.

Giving thanks to the Grandmothers and Grandfathers, she has walked the red road since 2001, hand in hand with the dance of the sun, the teepee, the the inipi (sweat lodge) and the vision quest ceremonies where she has received from her teachers some knowledge about weaving and art with feathers. Through research and empirical exploration through personal experiences, Vanesa creates art made in prayer. She created Taller Aluna Collective in 2006 where she teaches & manages a collective of about 5 other women, the majority of them young mother weavers.
